Loud Is Not Always Perfect In A Music Submission – Find The Right Balance

It is common to find people say something quite loudly because they think by saying it loud it becomes a fact or a statement that has more impact. This is commonly found in people who are trying to sing as well. This is why it is seen that budding vocalist are unable to find the right balance in the loudness of their voices. They tend to be quite loud when it is not necessary and hence create more of a reverberating sound rather than a sound that is clear and well harmonised. Loudness is a factor that can adversely affect the quality of your music submission. Trials are quite common at every sound recording and there are cases where people record, re-record and playback several times before they are able to accept and output as being perfect.

Sound Distortions

If you think that loudness is creating a problem, you will also find that distortions are equally bad for you. This is generally caused when people turn up the volume at every possibility. When you see your audiometer on high or in some cases when it turns red, it is a warning signal for you to do a rethink whether or not the loudness is impacting the quality of your recording. To ensure that this does not happen and that distortions don’t get the better of you, try turning your mic down or for that matter turn down any audio interface that you are using right now. You could also think of moving a couple of inches away from your mic so that these distortions do not happen again.

The ‘P’ and ‘B’ sounds

This is another common problem that people face while recording. When you are trying to say the sound of a pea oribi, it always comes out as quite forceful. For instance, when you say pepper or baby, the first syllable comes out quite forcefully. This is when you need to think of using a filter that is certainly not going to burn a hole in your pocket. Try altering how you say the letters but also think of the right equipment that could make a difference. These filters are also called pop filters; they are very much like mesh screens that are quite fine and are placed before a mic. Usually, they are circular in shape and made of very fine metal mesh. Since these filters are placed between your mouth and the mic they are able to filter unnecessary distortions so that the voice sounds smooth and melodious.
